Welcome to small world by David Skilling, where I’ll be writing on the global economy from a small advanced economy perspective.

Small advanced economies are the canaries in the mine of the global economy and have a history of strong outcomes and distinctive policy approaches. You can learn a lot about the global economy by watching small advanced economies.

I’m now based in the Netherlands after 11 years in Singapore, and am originally from New Zealand. These small economy experiences, combined with my day job of providing analysis and advice to institutions across many small economies, provides a different perspective on the global economy than you’ll get from many of the large economy voices that dominate the global debate. I hope that these notes provide you with new insights.
